Second Life Information

http://ctcinsl.wikispaces.com/ This is the URL to the Wiki Space on Second Life. To start you will need to go to Secondlife.com and get access from the SFCC help desk to download Second Life. You will then have to do the SL orientation to learn how to move your Avatar. Then follow these instructions:

Accessing Evergreen Island

To access Evergreen Island, your avatar must first join our group to teleport to the island. To do this:.

1. Start the Second Life application and log-in.

2. Click the "Search" tab. (This is located in the lower part of your screen.)

3. In the search window, click on the "Groups" tab (in the upper part of the screen).

4. Search for "WASBCTC DLC", click on the group and when that window opens, click on "join."

5. Then, back in your main Second Life window, click on "Map" (lower part of screen).

6. Search for "Evergreen Island" in the map search field (about the middle, right-hand side of the screen).

7. Click on the "Teleport" button.

Or, after joining the group, you can click on this link: Evergreen Island

Building your own Text

This blog is an instructor who sets up iGoogle with feeds for his students. This material is then used to construct the learning. He describes why he chooses the feeds and what he does with them. Most diciplines could find this a nice way to give currancy to material. Angel has a tool where this idea can be incoorperated into the online classroom.
